LAVACOAT All-Weather Terrace / Roof / Balcony Coating is used to insulate horizontal surfaces of buildings like terraces, balconies and roofs, which are subject to the direct effects of heavy rain, and/or snow. It is an A1 / Class 1 fire, water, and thermal resistant material having a characteristic of high diffusion (breathability), and is available in white color. LAVACOAT All-Weather Terrace / Roof / Balcony Coating prevents energy losses from the summer heat or winter cold, provides protection against water and moisture intrusion, and acts as a fire barrier. It is applied directly on all types of concrete surfaces, and provides insulation value and solar reflectance. *NOTE: Cannot be applied directly onto Metal, Wood, Concrete or Drywall, without using LAVACOAT Metal / Wood / Concrete / Drywall Primer.

MIX PREPARATION
Pour each bag of LAVACOAT Insulated Interior Coating into a clean vessel or commercial grade concrete/stucco/plaster mixer. (Water requirements may vary depending upon the type of mixing equipment used).
  • Mixing using a HAND-HELD mixer; Use between MIN. 15 - MAX. 17 Liters (MIN 4 - MAX 4.5 Gallons) of water, and mix for 6-7 minutes at low or medium speed.
  • Mixing using a COMMERCIAL GRADE CONCRETE, STUCCO, PLASTER mixer; Use between MIN. 16 - MAX. 18 Liters (MIN 4.25 - MAX 4.75 Gallons) of water, and mix for 6-7 minutes at regular mixer speed.
  • It is recommended that the mixture should be left to stand for 2 - 3 minutes after mixing.
  • The final consistency, after proper mixing, will result in the fully mixed product FALLING or DROPPING OFF THE TROWEL- SLOWLY.
  • PLEASE WATCH VIDEOS ON www.lavacoat.com TO ENSURE CORRECT MIXING CONSISTENCY.

  • APPLICATION
The surface of application area must be free from dust, dirt, oils, surface contaminants, etc. LAVACOAT All-Weather Terrace / Roof / Balcony Coating can, in addition to external surfaces, be used on interior areas (bathrooms, kitchens, and basements) to insulate horizontal surface floors against sound, heat and cold. Application can be done in a single coat, with a min. 2cm (3/4 inch] thickness. After a 48 hour drying period, in normal and dry weather conditions, the surface can be coated with the finish flooring, ie ceramic, granite, or stone tiles, etc. NOTE: HEAVY loads and traffic are not recommended on bare finish surface, however Light foot traffic is tolerable.

    IMPORTANT

    • The content of a bag of LAVACOAT All-Weather Terrace / Roof / Balcony Coating MUST be used completely when the pack is opened.

    • The product must be mixed with a hand-held mixer or concrete mixer (for minimum 6 minutes) at LOW revolution.

    • If the mixture prepared (max 1 hour) waits too long in the vessel and loses its consistency, you must NOT add water. Consistency can be renewed only by mixing with a low revolution mixer.

    • To apply LAVACOAT All-Weather Terrace / Roof / Balcony Coating on painted surfaces, mineral plaster and other coatings, purge the surface approximately at a rate of 70% by using paint remover chemicals, surface abrasion or other similar methods.

    • Can be painted after 48 hours using ONLY water based and/or Acrylic paints.

    • In case it is applied on areas larger than 25 m2 (270 sqft) it should be applied by leaving perimeter expansion joints of 1 cm (3/8 inch) at every 25 m2 (270 sqft) areas. After 48 hours, joints should be filled with LAVACOAT All-Weather Terrace / Roof / Balcony Coating.

    • The surface of application MUST be free from dust, mold, moss, dirt, oil, previous coatings, etc., until surface of concrete is reached.

    • During the mixing process, the person mixing the LAVACOAT product must wear a pair of safety glasses or goggles and a mask for health and safety purposes. See MSDS for additional precautions.
